Directions For Schedule U

Enter the following information for students attending charter schools.  Please note entries 1 through 24 include only resident student data and entries 25 through 30 include both resident and non-resident student data.

 

(ENTRIES 1 - 6) ACTUAL [0 decimals]

Values have been entered in the 1st column by the State Education Department for districts that had resident students enrolled in a charter school located within and outside the school district during the 2016-17 school year. Use these pre-filled values to check the reasonability of your 2017-18 entries.

 

(ENTRIES 1 - 6) PROJECTED [0 decimals]

Enter the estimated fall 2017 enrollment of resident students that will be enrolled in charter schools located within and outside the school district on the BEDS reporting day in October 2017.  Report such enrollments in the following grades groupings: half-day kindergarten (Entry 1), full-day kindergarten (Entry 2), grades 1 through 3 (Entry 3), grades 4 through 6 (Entry 4) and grades 7 through 12 (Entry 5) grade groupings.  Do not include these student enrollments in the 2017-18 enrollments reported on Form A.  The total resident enrollment calculated at Entry 6 is the sum of Entries 1 through 5.

 

(ENTRIES 7) PROJECTED 2017-18 [0 decimals]

Enter the estimated fall 2018 enrollment of resident students that will be enrolled in charter schools located within and outside the school district on the BEDS reporting day in October 2018.

 

(ENTRIES 8 - 12) ACTUAL [2 decimals]

Enter the total full-time-equivalent enrollment (FTE) of resident students that were enrolled in a charter school located within and outside the school district at any time during the 2016-17 school year.  Full-time-equivalent enrollment equals the quotient of the number of weeks of the students enrollment divided by the number of weeks in the charter school's 2016-17 annual session, except that in calculating both the student's period of enrollment and the charter school's annual session no more than four weeks should be counted in any month. Report the total FTE of students in following grade groupings:  half-day Kindergarten (Entry 8), full-day Kindergarten through grade 3 (Entry 9), grades 4 through 6 (Entry 10), grades 7 through 8 (Entry 11) and grades 9 through 12 (Entry 12).  FTEs reported in these items should be based on the final reports of 2016-17 FTEs received from charter schools on or before the last day of July, 2017.

 

(ENTRIES 8 - 12) PROJECTED [2 decimals]

Enter the total estimated full-time-equivalent enrollment (FTE) of resident students that will be enrolled in a charter school located within and outside the school district at any time during the 2017-18 school year.  Full-time-equivalent enrollment equals the quotient of the number of weeks of the students enrollment divided by the number of weeks in the charter school's 2017-18 annual session, except that in calculating both the student's period of enrollment and the charter school's annual session no more than four weeks should be counted in any month. Enter the full-time-equivalent enrollment (FTE) of resident students with disabilities who, during the 2016-17 school year, received special education services or programs provided directly or indirectly from a charter school pursuant to an individualized education program prepared by a committee on special education for 60% or more of the school day. Full-time-equivalent enrollment equals the quotient of the number of weeks of the student's enrollment in such services or programs divided by the number of weeks in the charter school's 2016-17 annual session, except that in calculating both the student's period of enrollment and the charter school's annual session no more than four weeks should be counted in any month. Report the total FTE of such students with disabilities in the following grade groupings:  Kindergarten through grade 3 (Entry 13), grades 4 through 6 (Entry 15) and grades 7 through 12 (Entry 17).  FTEs reported in these items should be based on the final reports of 2016-17 FTEs for students with disabilities received from charter schools.  Do not include these students in FTEs of students with disabilities reported on Form A.

 

(ENTRIES 13, 15 AND 17) PROJECTED [2 decimals]

Enter the estimated full-time-equivalent enrollment (FTE) of resident students with disabilities who, during the 2017-18 school year, will receive special education services or programs provided directly or indirectly from a charter school pursuant to an individualized education program prepared by a committee on special education for 60% or more of the school day. Report the total FTE of such students with disabilities receiving consultant teacher services in the following grade groupings:  Kindergarten through grade 3 (Entry 22), grades 4 through 6 (Entry 23) and grades 7 through 12 (Entry 24).  FTEs reported in these items should be based on final reports of 2016-17 FTEs received from the charter schools on or before the last day of July, 2017.  Do not include these students in FTEs of students with disabilities reported on Form A.

 

(ENTRIES 22 - 24) PROJECTED [2 decimals]

Enter the estimated full-time- equivalent enrollment (FTE) of resident students with disabilities who, during the 2017-18 school year, will receive consultant teacher special education services or programs provided directly or indirectly from a charter school pursuant to an individualized education program prepared by a committee on special education. Full-time-equivalent enrollment equals the quotient of the number of weeks of the student's enrollment in such services or programs divided by the number of weeks in the charter school's 2017-18 annual session, except that in calculating both the student's period of enrollment and the charter school's annual session no more than four weeks should be counted in any month. Report the total FTE of such students with disabilities receiving consultant teacher services in the following grade groupings:  Kindergarten through grade 3 (Entry 22), grades 4 through 6 (Entry 23) and grades 7 through 12 (Entry 24).  FTEs reported in this item should be based on reports of 2017-18 FTEs received from the charter schools 30 days prior to each charter school payment date.  You may submit updates to this data via SAMS at any time during the current school year.  Do not include these students in FTEs of students with disabilities reported on Form A.

Use these pre-filled values to check the reasonability of your 2017-18 entries.

 

(ENTRIES 25 - 30) PROJECTED [2 decimals]

Enter the estimated fall 2017 enrollment of both resident and non-resident students that will be enrolled in charter schools located within the school district on the BEDS reporting day in October 2017.  Report such enrollments by the following grade groupings: half-day kindergarten (Entry 25), full-day kindergarten (Entry 26), grades 1 through 3 (Entry 27), grades 4 through 6 (Entry 28) and grades 7 through 12 (Entry 29).  Entry 30 is the sum total of entries 26 through 29.

 

Please note that 2017 BEDS enrollment data will become available for State Aid use in January 2018.  At this time, the 2017 BEDS "attending" resident and nonresident enrollment data for the individual charter schools will be aggregated and will replace the 2017-18 projected enrollment data reported by the district on Schedule U lines 25 through 30.  If the 2017 enrollment amounts provided by BEDS are in question by the district, please contact the Office of Information & Reporting Services at (518) 474-7965 to coordinate any necessary revisions to this data.
