Posting of XML file description for new BOCES State Aid claim software
We have completed requirements for the new BOCES Aid data collection, editing, aid calculation and reporting system. In the new system, all data will be collected via an XML file and imported into a database at SED. To ensure correct BOCES Aid and projection results, we will be collecting data in the new system during the 2009-10 school year, in addition to the DEA data collection.
The contents and format of the required XML submission file are substantially different than the currently submitted DEA files. Therefore, we are providing the BOCES several months to develop the new files. We are requesting that an initial transmission of data files in the new XML format be sent to SED by mid-December. However, if it is possible to submit files earlier than that, it would be greatly appreciated.
The file format, sample file and other important XML transmission information have been posted in the BOCES topic area of the State Aid website: http://stateaid.nysed.gov/boces/index.htm. In addition, within a short time, an Excel file containing the most recent drafts of data display form "mockups" will be emailed to you; these will help communicate how data will be organized in the system.
You will be notified via email when the information on the website has been updated and/or when additional BOCES SAMS State Aid system information has been posted. Please share this and future communications with appropriate personnel at your BOCES, and if applicable, with your software vendors.
